  • Scientific Name: Sedeveria 'Pink Ruby'
  • Common Names: Pink Ruby Sedeveria
  • Native Region: Cultivar of Sedeveria, an intergeneric hybrid between Sedum and Echeveria; cultivated worldwide as an ornamental succulent.

Light Requirements: Prefers bright light to full sun. Provide several hours of direct sunlight each day to encourage compact growth and bring out pink, red, or purple coloration in the leaves. In very hot climates, protect it from intense afternoon sun to prevent scorching.

Watering Needs: Water thoroughly when the soil has dried out completely. Allow excess water to drain fully and avoid watering again until the soil is completely dry. Reduce watering during winter or cooler periods when growth slows.

Soil Preference: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix. Adding pumice, perlite, or coarse sand helps improve drainage and prevents excess moisture around the roots.

How to Fertilize: Fertilize every 6–8 weeks during the growing season (spring through summer) with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer. Reduce or skip feeding during winter.

Hardiness Zone: Suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9–12. It prefers warm, dry conditions and should be protected from frost and prolonged freezing temperatures.

Pet Safety: Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but ingestion of plant material may still cause mild gastrointestinal upset. Keep out of reach of pets to prevent chewing or excessive ingestion.

Additional Care Tips: Sedeveria 'Pink Ruby' is a compact hybrid succulent known for its attractive rosette form and pink to ruby-colored leaves, with stronger coloration developing under bright light and cooler conditions. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings and avoid letting water sit in the rosette, as excess moisture can contribute to rot. Remove dried lower leaves as needed to keep the plant tidy. It is drought-tolerant and can be propagated from offsets, leaves, or stem cuttings when healthy material is available.
